Off Dry Wines

Blueberry

A sumptuous blend of native Maine blueberries and a crisp white wine. Dry and delightful. Bring home a taste of Maine. A perfect pairing for pork, chicken or turkey.

Rhubarb

This is a blend of 90% Rhubarb and 10% Vidal Blanc. Fresh and clean with a zingy fresh rhubarb finish. Is rhubarb a fruit or a vegetable? You judge.

Rough Cut Cider

100% Maine apples. Picked after the first frost to increase sugar and decrease acidity. Made from four varieties of apples.  This wine is a joint effort between Red Mill Lumber and Blacksmiths Winery. Ricker Orchards now provides the apples.

 

Vidal Blanc

A crisp white wine recommended for a summer afternoon in Maine. Both to be savored while they last. Flavors of fresh pear and peach, similar to Riesling, Vidal Blanc pairs nicely with seafood and dishes with Asian flavored sauces.

Commissure

An off-dry red wine similar to a Chianti, with ripe fruit flavors of fresh strawberry and a spicy cinnamon finish. A blend containing Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

Dry White Wines

Chardonnay

Blacksmiths Chardonnay is reminiscent of white Burgundy, with subtle flavors of melon and pear. This is a Chardonnay that won’t overwhelm a delicate sauce. Our Chardonnay is fermented in stainless steel to retain the subtle fruit flavors.

Trillium

Blacksmiths’ original blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Trillium is lightly oaked with fresh, zingy fruit flavors. It pairs well with lighter foods with rich zesty flavors.

Dry Red Wines

Lemberger

A dry red wine made from grapes from the Pacific Northwest. Enjoy with many grilled foods. Not to be confused with the aromatic cheese of a similar name.

Sangiovese

Deep ruby color, ripe plum nose, firm structure with balanced tannin and fruit, and a long rich finish that shows french oak, plum and black cherry. A “Super Tuscan” style blend with 91% Sangiovese and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Syrah

Yakima Valley Syrah shows brambly fruit flavors of raspberry and blackberry, with rich spice and pepper notes on a monumentally structured finish.

Elderberry

Produced from Maine-grown elderberries. Fermented dry and barrel aged. Blended with Lemberger to increase complexity. Pairs well with grilled food.

Merlot

A fruit-forward style with flavors of blueberries, plums and especially cherries, with a lovely soft beguiling bouquet of rose blossoms and chocolate. Crisply structured with tight fruit. Fermented and aged in small French oak barrels.

Cabernet Sauvignon

100% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented and aged in new French oak barrels for over 3 years. An intense Cabernet
with aromas of ripe red berries with red cherry and spice. Great depth and length of fruit in the mouth with vanilla, chocolate and smoke.

Dessert Wines

Raspberry

A desert wine which reflects all the complexities of the raspberry. The tartness of the raspberry is balanced with just enough sweetness. Enjoy with chocolate or ice cream.

Sweet Elderberry

A distinctive desert wine made from Maine elderberries.

Roughshod

Get a grip. Made with Maine blueberries blended with brandy. A delightful Port-style wine especially delicious with fruit desserts and anything vanilla.

Casco Port

The Sangiovese grape provides the hearty fruit flavors which are balanced by the smooth finish of the brandy. A ruby port to enjoy with cheese, chocolate or walnuts.

Sparkling Blueberry

A sparkling version of our popular Maine Blueberry Wine.

Sparkling Cranberry

Bright pink color, clear and clean, with an elusive cranberry and citrus nose. The flavor is a balanced sweet and tart cranberry, while the Vidal Blanc provides a crisp finish.

Sparkling Peach

Very close to a champagne-style wine with a hint of peach on the nose and finish.

Vidal Ice Wine

True ice wine juice imported from Ontario. Picked at 37° brix and fermented in stainless steel to 18 percent residual sugar. Overtones of apricot and honey. This wine is only sampled on Saturdays when in stock.
